In 2023 the National Trust contacted Hydroserve Ltd to request a quotation for a Borehole Water Supply for East & West Deepdale Farms near Kettlewell, North Yorkshire.
The farms had been on a Spring water supply which had dried up in recent summers, and was supplied through an ageing and leaky pipe network.
Our quotation was accepted and so began the process of replacing the old, unreliable spring water supply with a new, consistent and wholesome Borehole Water supply.
A suitable location was agreed with the tenant farmers and a Borehole was drilled, cased and lined to 75 meters. A clean, abundant supply of groundwater was obtained and samples taken to ascertain the water quality.
The only treatment required was softening, and an appropriate water treatment system was specified and installed in one of Hydroserve’s unique ‘BoreHome’ Cabinets.
Once the borehole water had been successfully treated, Hydroserve’s Excavation & Pipeline Team set about installing trenches and new pipelines to replace the existing corroded and leaky pipe network with new 32mm MDPE plastic pipework.
The Borehole Water Supply system was fully commissioned a few weeks after commencement of works and a set of water samples taken to prove the wholesomeness of the supply. The water passed all parameters tested.
The Borehole Water Supply now provides a wholesome water supply to hundreds of cattle via a new pipe network and series of drinking troughs. It also supplies water for all domestic purposes to the 2 Farmhouse’s. A real asset to the Farms and the properties !.
